A professor from Germany delivered a lecture at the SFedU mathematical seminar

22.03.2024

On March 21, a lecture by Igor Vasilyevich Andrianov, Professor at the Rhenish–Westphalian Technical University of Aachen, Germany, was held as part of the regular scientific seminar of the RNOMC SFedU. The seminar was led by Professors A.N. Karapetyants and V.V. Kravchenko.

Igor Vasilyevich – PhD, Professor at the Rhenish-Westphalian Technical University of Aachen, Germany, member of the American Mathematical Society, the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematicians, the German Society of Applied Mathematicians and Mechanics. Graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Dnepropetrovsk State University in 1971 (Department of Applied Theory of Elasticity). PhD thesis — 1975 Doctoral dissertation — 1990. He received the title of associate professor in 1980. He received the title of professor in 1990. In 1994 He received a Soros grant. In 1996— he became a Soros professor. He is the author of more than 16 monographs and 300 works. Research interests: asymptotic methods in shell theory, composite materials and nonlinear dynamics.

On March 21, Professor Andrianov delivered a lecture on mathematical models of "pure" and applied mathematics at the seminar of the Russian Scientific Research Center of the Southern Federal University. He gave definitions of pure and applied mathematics, mathematical models, and considered the approaches of the classics - Poincare, Lyapunov, and Lord Rayleigh. Examples are the problems of truncation, continualization and bursts, the Navier-Stokes equations, the Kirchhoff and Bolotin approximations in the nonlinear dynamics of continuous systems, etc. The main conclusion can be formulated as follows: any correct mathematical model is asymptotic. It includes as an integral part the asymptotic estimates and the constraints on which it is based. Only in this case it is formulated quite definitely as mathematical.

The seminar "Seminar on Analysis, Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics" was attended by about fifty mathematicians - specialists from leading scientific and educational centers of the world in Russia and other countries, including graduate students and students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Southern Federal University and young scientists.

Online scientific seminar of the Regional Scientific and Educational Mathematical Center (https://rmc.sfedu.ru /) it is held regularly every two weeks, announcements of new seminars and videos of previous seminars are available on the website http://msrn.sfedu.ru/sl . The seminar is attended by leading researchers from around the world whose research interests are related to analysis, differential equations and mathematical physics. The scientific seminar of the mathematical center is open, and everyone can take part in it.
