The 10th Cyber Garden Hackathon was Held in Taganrog

11.12.2018

On December 2, the Cyber Garden #10 programming marathon ended in Taganrog. It was the 10th time when programmers, analysts and designers gathered in the winter garden of the Academy for Engineering and Technologies of Southern Federal University.

This time the hackathon was conducted by order of the city administration of Taganrog; and the participants had to develop convenient and necessary social services for residents of Taganrog. The project, which will help employees of city administration to learn about problems of the citizens as quickly as possible and to send a response, won.

Taganrog regularly gathers IT-specialists ready to develop necessary products for people: sites, programs, applications, and devices.

Teams from Taganrog, Rostov-on-Don, and Novosibirsk implemented ideas aimed at the development of the following social sectors: education, culture, sports, health care, transport, ecology and smart housing and communal services.  Mentors — IT and business professionals, representatives of Lodoss Team and Newizze — supervised the team's work. ===

The deputy head of the department for economic development of the city administration Natalia Anatolievna was interested in practical application of the projects. She promised that the administration would carefully and responsibly analyze the projects for the purpose of their further implementation.

Nikita Leonov became the winner of Cyber Garden #10 Smart City hackathon. His project "Tagan" is an IT project that will help the administration of Taganrog to learn about the problems of its citizens as quickly as possible. The user is to send a photograph with a comment about any incident (for example, a garbage dump) through the mobile application, and to receive bonuses from partners. The administration is to receive the request, solve the problem and send response with a photograph confirming it. The application also collects statistics and analyzes the city statistics of problem places.

Cyber Garden hackathon is an example of a systematic approach to the organization of interaction between students of engineering specialties, potential employers and the administration of the city.
