SFedU Professor - Member of ESRF Expert Council

26.12.2017

The European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) is the largest European mega-class research facility in the field of photonics.

Alexander Soldatov, Director of "Smart Materials" SfedU center became a member of the international expert council of ESRF, which selects experiments proposed for implementation at this unique facility, which allows to carry out experiments of such a high scientific level that the result of research in ESRF an average of 10 days there is an article in the journals of the level of Nature and Science.

Invitation of a SFedU employee as an ESRF expert is evidence of the recognition of the leading positions of SFedU in the field of modern techniques for diagnosing materials using synchrotron radiation. It should be noted that the results of 2016 and 2017 SFedU takes the first place among the Russian scientific and educational organizations on the effectiveness of the use of ESRF.

Each shift (8 hours) of measurements in ESRF laboratories (and other synchrotrons of this class) is equivalent to 5 thousand euros and taking into account the fact that SFedU staff participate in measurements of at least 200 shifts annually, the winning of SFedU staff's requests for experiments in ESRF is equivalent to the additional attracting over a million euros for world-class research.
